FIRE DISTRICT NO. 3 GOALS FOR 2008

Established by the District's Volunteer Firefighters

Second Quarter Report

1.  Zero Accidents, Zero Injuries

The year has been accident free. We did experience one Firefighter injury that was preventable. We have learned from that incident and will adopt guidelines that will lower the risk to our firefighters.

2.  Increase State Mobilization Revenue

Wildland season has been off to an early start for mobilizations. Of the three opportunities we have participated in one. T32 went to the Stohrmiller fire in July.

3.  Continue 80% Drill Attendance

Training attendance has been below average. I expect to see an increase as we progress through the year.

4.  Complete New Type VI Engine by June

R33 was created, which took some time from us completing BR-32 on time. BR-32 is day away from completion. We in essence have added two new Type 6 vehicles during the time frame of the goal set.

5.  100% Firefighter Participation in Use of Web Tools by End of 2008

I expect we are at 50% without any increase in effort. We will offer some additional on-line tools to help and encourage others to utilize the POFD3 website.

6.  Create a COMS/Radio Replacement Plan by End of 2008

POFD 3 is aggressively pursuing radio replacements with grant opportunities. Currently three requests are seeking grant assistance. We will develop a plan of phasing in new radios in 2009 as part of capital improvements if the grants fail.

7.  Replace M-31 EMS Response Vehicle by End of 2008

POFD 3 has placed in service a 1999 F350 Wheeled Coach Type I ambulance. This was completed in June and serving the community very well.

8.  Increase Roster of Active Members to 61 by End of 2008

The roster is undergoing some changes. We have added 4 new members and lost two this 2nd quarter. I expect we will meet our goals by year's end as we have a number of applications out.

9.  Pass Tender Credit

The rules have been approved so we will look to practicing and testing this summer.

10. See Goal #1

Again, we have a raised level of safety awareness after a mistake happened last winter.
