» First Responder Certification Course
» BLS Instructor Certification Course EMS Captain Darwin (Buck) Cole is now certified by the American Heart Association to provide CPR Instructor training and certification courses. This 2-day course is designed to prepare Instructors to teach CPR information and skills, and to generate enthusiasm for AHA goals and objectives. AHA Instructors are the best tool the AHA has to fulfill its mission – to reduce death and disability caused by heart disease and stroke. The more skilled instructors we have, the more people will learn CPR. If you would like information about the next training class to be held at Diamond Lake Station, please click on the link above. » Healthcare Provider CPR Course The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physicians assistants, residents or fellows or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel. The Healthcare Provider (CPR) Course is a pre-requisite for the EMT Training. The Heartsaver CPR course is designed to teach CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO) to all lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace. Participants include security guards, firefighters, police, and other lay responders. Although the course may be used to teach CPR to all lay rescuers, it is specifically designed for lay rescuers who are required to obtain a course completion card – credential- documenting completion of a CPR course. All rescuers are trained in CPR and relief of FBOA. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support Heartsaver Course is offered periodically throughout the year. The Bloodborne Pathogens training course is designed meet the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act training requirements for personnel who might have exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials that may contain bloodborne pathogens as per the rules specified in Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens Chapter 296-823 WAC. In this training program, you are going to learn about what bloodborne pathogens are; some of the important/serious diseases they cause and their symptoms; how they are transmitted, or spread; what you can do to prevent contracting these diseases; and what our Exposure Control Plan is here at Pend Oreille County Fire District No. 3. The Bloodborne Pathogens Class is a pre-requisite for the EMT Training. If you would like additional information or want to register for this training class, please click on the link above. » CPR for Family and Friends Workshop Pend Oreille Fire District No. 3 provides American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends workshops for the community. At each workshop participants learn what to do in a life-threatening emergency requiring cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. With the knowledge learned at one of these two-hour Saturday morning sessions, you may be able to save the life of a loved one, a friend, or a neighbor. The instructor will help you understand your role in the "Chain of Survival", how to recognize four life threatening emergencies in adults (heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking), and how to perform CPR. Workshop activities include an instructional video, demonstrations, practice sessions, and handouts. Refreshments are provided by Fire District No. 3 Auxiliary members.
