Harker Canyon Fire

Wildfire Incident: The Harker Canyon fire was located nine miles northeast of Davenport in Lincoln County. The fire burned over 1,566 acres and at it's height it threatened 50 homes.  POFD No. 3 firefighters responded to the fire as part of the State Fire Services Mobilization Plan effort.

POFD No. 3 Firefighters: Chief Mark Havener and Firefighter Larry Eldridge joined the firefighting effort.

POFD No. 3 Apparatus: The Station 31  Wildland Fire Brush Rig was put into service on the fire.

School Fire  
School Fire - Southeastern Washington - 8-12-05

Wildfire Incident: Umatilla National Forest. This fire is 16 miles south of Pomeroy, WA in timber. Private residences and outbuildings, campgrounds, lookouts, cultural sites and wildlife habitat were threatened.  Steep terrain and rolling debris hampered containment efforts. 

POFD No. 3 Firefighters: Firefighters Harry Egland and Larry Eldridge took Tender 31 and joined the fire fighting effort Saturday night the 6th of August.  (The new Tender T31 A was placed in service at Diamond Lake Station to provide protection there.)  They were part of a Task force that was working structure protection. Harry and Larry retuned from duty Wednesday, August 10.  They both said they worked hard, learned a lot, and enjoyed the experience.

Also, Captain Jack Biss is there with Sierra and FD #4 member Robert Jackson as a private contractor. They were assigned to a different area of the fire.

POFD No. 3 Apparatus: Tender 31 from Diamond Lake Station was used on the School Fire between August 7-10.  In its place, the newly refurbished Tender 31A was placed in service at Diamond Lake Station to provide protection for the community.
