PEND OREILLE COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT NO. 3 |
|
Goals for 2005 - Final Report Chief Mark Havener » Zero Accidents, Zero Injuries 1 Accidents , 1 Injury - The 4th quarter served us well. There were no injuries and only one small incident ($100 repair) involving one of our drop tanks used in water shuttle operations. During the 3rd Quarter, we did have one injury to a Firefighter while operating on a wildland fire incident. The firefighter suffered multiple fractures to her right ankle. Following treatment and rehab, she was later able to return to full active duty status. » Develop and Implement Water Supply SOPs Achieved - We developed and implemented the SOPs, which will be distributed at the next meeting. This will also assist Fire District No. 3 in obtaining the Tender credit for insurance benefits. » Increase Volunteer Roster by 10% Progress Made - With recent additions and some attrition from the roster we are currently at a 0% increase. We have a number of good prospects that we hope to welcome for 2006. The changes we have had in our staff recently has created a more effective reliable group of volunteers. Information about volunteer opportunities and activities at Pend Oreille Fire District No. 3 has been posted in monthly newspaper articles and on the district's Web site. We have many applications out currently. I would have to state that our recruitment efforts could be improved but, I would consider the year a success with our new personnel. » New Wildland Equipment in Service by May 2005 Achieved - The Tender build out was completed. The new brush rig and the tender are both now in service and are expected to serve Fire District No. 3 very effectively for years to come. » Firefighter One Task Books Completed 75% Achieved - Three of our Wildland Firefighters completed their task books and are now ready to move to the next training level for Wildland certification. We did miss one opportunity for a member to complete the task book. » New Sacheen Lake Station Dried in by January 2006 Progress Made - Progress continues to be slow and steady on the planning phases of the building. We now have a set of completed plans and a timeline established for the new year. » T-32 Improvements Progress Made - Plans have been made and price quotes received for this project. DNR grant funding is needed to continue. The application was submitted and we now await approval of our Washington Wildland Fire Assistance Phase II DNR grant request. All indications favor successful completion of the project in the First Quarter of 2006. » All Firefighters Attain Competency in SCBA Donning Task Sheet 90% Achieved - Among our SCBA qualified Firefighters, 90% were successful in attaining proficiency in 2005. » IFSAC Firefighter I Certification for 50% of Staff Progress Made - This was an extremely lofty goal from the membership. We will reevaluate the realistic portion of SMART goals for this in 2006. » Wildland Contract Responder List Created by June 2005 Achieved - We have a number of members certified and have built our response list. We do not expect any further mobilizations for this year and our members look eagerly to next year. Pend Oreille County Fire District No. 3 325272 Hwy. 2 Newport, WA 99156 |
